Georgioupolis Square update
As it was a lovely morning and I had to go to do a little shopping, I thought I would stop in Georgioupolis and see how the work is going in the square and by the river. It was a lovely day as you can see but no workers today. Perhaps they have to wait for the concrete to "go off" ( Or perhaps they over indulged yesterday - Clean Monday-
Main square fountains and seating
Flower beds?
The Plan
Down by the sea where there is to be a recreation area there was some work going on. They will have to get a move on though to finish before the start of the season!
Plan for the recreation area
Years ago the square was full of trees with little cats playing it was so lovely and quaint im not sure of what they are doing now ,the little roads were sandy it was such a lovely place to be im with bamboo growing either side of the roads,im not sure about all thie modern stuff, dont think I like it much but times have to move on I suppose and the people will still be as lovely
ReplyDeleteIt willbe no more the lovely place it was before . this charming place is gone forever . im so sad about it .
ReplyDeletereally no positive development...and if it´s ready no one will be responsible for the maintainance ... another ruin of cement like all the others on Crete ... pity that one have not learned from past mistakes
ReplyDeleteWhere are people going to park?
ReplyDeleteSo sad to see what they are doing.
Thanks for keeping us up to date Helen.
Thanks for sharing all this info and pictures, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry but I tend to agree with all the posts above – hope we all are wrong
I agree too. I remember it how it was in 1988. Times change but we have to be sympathetic to the surroundings
