Fres

Image
Yesterday I had an meeting in Fres.  I zig zagged my way past the potholes on the road from Vrysses! The day was changeable, one minute sunny, then cloudy, fairly warm, but cool in the wind. "The Goat" at Fres The Plateia It is hard to take a picture of all the different shades of green across the valley. A little piece of Crete that I hope will never change. The meeting was interesting ( I hope for the others there too) Talking about the election issues, everything from "How do we vote?" Through animal welfare, helping those in need, roads, water, future development, environment, supporting the local women's and young people's groups and much more.

Will Georgioupoli be ready for the tourists?

With the first tourists arriving next week there is a lot of work still to be done! The Plateia itself is coming on - and the lads on motor biles have started to roar across it!!  The  roads around the village are a problem still. Builders rubble, work going on, potholes, difficult to get around and the busses cannot get through as the side roads are not finished. They should have been done first methinks. The taverna, cafeteria and hotel owners are going all full speed ahead freshening up, painting, working, I will be interested to see next week if the roads are all cleaned up!! The beach was covered in seaweed two days ago, another job that must be done by the end of the week. I will go and take another look at the weekend!

Kambia Church

Image
Yesterday I called by the little church in the village of Kambia Recently the village joined together and, with donations from members of the community, the courtyard has been dug out and resurfaced. Before this the church floor was lower than that of  the courtyard and when it rained the water ran in to the church. It was also very rough. Happily the problems have now been resolved.  A place to sit in the shade The spring flowers are blooming around the olive trees in the courtyard
