Many of you will already have heard from me why I have decided to support Mr. Koukianakis in the upcoming local elections. I would like to clarify things for those of you who have not. In the last local elections I stood with Mr Markakis, who is not standing this time. I narrowly missed winning a seat on the council by only 4 votes. I continued, as you all know, to help you all with council issues, as best I could, on a voluntary basis. I was a member of the citizens council and also regularly attended the council meetings. I found whilst sitting in the meetings that I gradually realised that I agreed with Mr.Koukianakis on many issues. Many good proposals were thrown out without proper discussion simply because they were proposed by the opposition. I also saw that in many cases it became apparent over time that Mr Koukianakis had been correct in what he had said.    Yesterday I started the day at the town hall where several people came to check whether they needed to update their voters registration because of new passports. In the event half of them did and half of them not. If you are in doubt it is easy to check and easy to put right - must be done by the end of February though! For more information take a look at the website here  which is updated as new information comes in and the candidates declare themselves.    There were some other people with problems and I was able to get them pointed in the right direction to find solutions. Some will be longer term than others.    When I left the town hall - complete with a big sack of plastic bottle tops donated to the charity who collects them to raise money for wheelchairs for disabled children - I had a meeting with two potential candidates for the next elections.
