End of the week

Various things going on. The square in Georgioupolis was vandalised - the very reason why the council put up cheap and not very pretty barriers in the beginning - they were expecting this to happen. The pity of it is that the tour companies TUI etc had just been congratulating the council for their efforts. I hear on the grapevine that the square will be blocked of with a removable chain to allow easier access for deliveries in the day and totally pedestrianised in the evening. Watch this space.
Yesterday evening we had the first of two performances of confusions - the audience seemed to like it. We have our last performance tonight and are hoping for a good turnout. more about that tomorrow. I must go and get my things ready for tomorrows table top sale in Georgioupolis. The chutney is bubbling away as I speak and I have also been dealing with some items for the organisers of the "Dance across Crete" event that happens in August. the problem last year was that many people did not know where to go or what time to go there to join in so that is important this time.
On a sadder note my "Auntie Elsie" died this week. A lovely lady of 96 one of 14 children she was the sister of my grandmother, she will be much missed
My Mother wrote a poem for her - remember this is a cornish family hence the references to pasties!-

          Elsie

“’Ullo, me ‘ansome,” Peter said
And opened up the gate,
“You didn’ seem to want to come.
We’ve  ‘ad a fair ol’ wait!

You’ve timed it well, ‘tis pasty day
No, you sit down, ‘cos see
Your sister Mabel showed us ‘ow.
Enjoy your cup o’ tea.

You’ve worked enough. Rest up a bit,
Catch up with everyone.
There’s no use frettin’ now you’re ‘ere
‘Bout jobs you ‘aven’t done.

You gave your love to everyone
Who came within your reach
Made memories of happy times
With days on Maenporth beach.

You’re loved so much by those you leave
They’ll miss your smilin’ face
Your welcomin’ and lovin’ ways,
Your kind and gentle grace.”

‘Bye,’bye me ‘ansome.
