The Old Neighbourhood

Wandering around the villages it is fascinating to see the old houses and archways standing proud amongst the ruins. I often wonder how the village was in the past and wish I could see it at its height. One village near me has about 6 residents now, yet in the war 146 men were sent to the army. There was also  and olive mill and a "factory", not to mention that further back there was believed to be a mint making silver coins. Where are all those families now?

Nature takes over

Wonderful stonework

A shady nook

Some of the properties were large and must have belonged to monied families.

Oil and wine "barrels" still in the cellar.

Entrances

…and exits

Cob walls

Walls are falling but the arches stand strong and proud against the blue sky.

Huge beams made from tree trunks
