Perastikos Taverna

Those of you who have not visited Georgioupolis for a while will be saddened  to see the demise of Perastikos taverna.

Sitting watching the turtles, Kingfishers, fish and other wildlife, feeding the ducks, having a joke with Sifi. Enjoying Kyria Katerina's lovely cooking. Watching "barba" Sifi's flock of sheep having a drink of the cool clean water as they made their way along the beach.

Today it looks like this

The bridge is still there

Leading to nowhere!

Back in the late 80's early 90's there would be live music late at night, Sifi would sometimes play the bouzouki

Before the other bridge was built we had to wade across the freezing cold river to reach the main beach

Now it is all reverting to nature

You can still watch the river as it runs to the sea

The sign is still there

A little bit of paradise just off the beach

  1. We took a walk, and visited the place now in June. I agree, it’s a shame. Some years ago we had lunch there, it was so nice to sit so close to the water and watch the fishes. I big shame that nice places like these can’t survive – whatever it now depends on???
