Water in Apokoronas - or lack of it!
As we all know, water is scarce this year and we have been asked to be careful and not to waste it. Some villages are harder hit than others and it is difficult to supply water when the reservoirs and storage tanks are not filling due to the low level of rainfall during the past winter. I thought I would take a look at our local rivers. Boutakis river - dry. Vrysakos River - dry Lake Kournas - The Eye The water is very low There is actually quite a big beach by the side of the lake this year Lower than for many years Almyros river The Delphina river runs from the lake to the sea ( or usually does!) Vrysses river next to the town hall Totally overgrown, no water Yes, many of these rivers are fed by meltwater and dry up in the summer, but this year there was no water running even in the winter. Another of Vrysses' rivers, also totally dry. This situation is seen over and over again
